Ann Craft Trust Safeguarding Adults Bulletin – October 2025, Issue 133

Ann Craft Trust Safeguarding Bulletin 133 October 2025

Hello, and welcome to the Autumn edition of the Ann Craft Trust Safeguarding Adults Bulletin.

You can download a PDF version of this bulletin here.

I’m Emma Gibson, the head of the Safeguarding Adults in Sport team at the Ann Craft Trust, and this is my first guest editor spot!

I’ll try not to talk too much sport but I am pleased to announce that we have a new addition to our sport team this month – Hannah Shah. Hannah joins us from a previous role in student welfare with De Montfort University. She brings a wealth of adult safeguarding and EDI knowledge and experience to our team.

First, a reminder that we are recruiting for a new chair of trustees.

You’ll find more information about this role, and how to apply, below.

We have also recently moved to a new training management system – Nucleus. We know some of you have received emails from Nucleus and weren’t sure if they were genuine. Rest assured that they are, and we thank you for your patience as we make this move!

When we deliver safeguarding training, we ask people to think about what makes them feel safe. Many people mention that feeling of being at home in your slippers and drinking hot chocolate, which is particularly apt for this time of the year. However, almost three-quarters (72%) of women in the UK change their outdoor activity routines during winter, according to Sport England data from October 2024.

As the clocks go back and the dark nights are drawing it can be harder for all of us to make the effort to leave the couch and enjoy being active. So below are some resources that may help you find the motivation to get out and keep active with some simple safety measures in place.

Here’s some info on running at night from Women’s Fitness. And here’s a handy guide to staying active in winter. So enjoy your evenings, get out there and enjoy the outdoors and take care of each other.

Happy reading, keep warm, and stay active!

Could You Be The Next Ann Craft Trust Chair of Trustees?

We are looking for a committed individual who has an interest in safeguarding adults to become Chair of the Ann Craft Trust Board of Trustees.

The chair will work with the board of trustees to guide as well as support the charity to deliver our strategic plan and vision. We are looking for someone who shares our values and recognises that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Podcast: Grief Disco and the Power of Music and Movement

Grief Disco is an initiative to help people work through grief with the power of music and movement.

“At Grief Disco, we don’t dance to forget. We dance to remember, to honour, and to reconnect—with ourselves, with joy, and with each other. Music helps us shake off the weight of sorrow, even if just for a moment, and reminds us that life still holds space for movement, laughter, and healing.”
