I couldn’t quite believe it when I saw the opportunity to join the Ann Craft Trust within the Sport Team.
Having worked in safeguarding and welfare support on and off for over 10 years, and being a part-time, self-employed Strength & Conditioning Coach, the role is such a great fit and one I’m so excited to get stuck into. Both emotional and physical wellbeing are so important to me, and I love the fact the role focuses on both of these things.
I’ve moved to The Ann Craft Trust from De Montfort University (DMU). There I was supporting students who have experienced, or were currently experiencing, domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate and/or harassment. A significant amount of my work at DMU involved building relationships with both internal and external partners, to ensure the services were being used effectively and to increase related safeguarding knowledge. I look forward to building similar connections in my role here, and to meeting all of our contacts.
Prior to DMU, I worked for both charities and the public sector, in family-centred safeguarding and support settings.
My husband Nabil is a Physiotherapist at the University of Nottingham. I have him to thank for the importance I now place on staying physically active. We’re in the process of moving to Nottingham with our little boy, and our cat Pingu!
It’s a very exciting time both personally and professionally. While I have lots more to learn about safeguarding in the sports arena, I’m eager to get started. Please do reach out if you’d like to chat!
