The Sport Welfare Officer (SWO) Network is going from strength to strength.
The network supports National Governing Bodies (NGBs) and their local clubs to promote good practice and safer sport for all. This overlaps with our work with NGBs and Active Partnerships (APs).
The enthusiasm shown by so many of the SWOs often shines through, and we’ve seen many examples where this is making a real difference to safeguarding adults in sport.
It is great to see this learning and innovation being openly shared in the various network meetings happening regularly within the sport sector. The Ann Craft Trust also plans to showcase some fantastic examples of collaboration. Look out for our upcoming Safeguarding Matters Podcast with Liz Wright from Active Cumbria!
The Safeguarding Adults in Sport Team is also currently working with the Active Partnerships National Organisation (APNO) and the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) to co-deliver a partner event on 1 July. This will bring together the Lead Safeguarding Officers from the 42 APs and various NGBS, as well as the SWO network. The day will provide an in-person opportunity to connect, share and learn, in order to build safer cultures together.
