Safeguarding Adults in Sport Framework – Update

Safeguarding in Sport Covid 19

Our online tool supports all sports organisations to implement best practice in safeguarding adults.

We originally announced our Framework in January. We’re now reaching the end of the pilot stage of the project, so we thought we’d give a brief progress report.

Feedback and Assessment

A small number of sports and activity organisations have completed the Framework. They were our guinea pigs, and we can’t thank them enough!

They’ve provided some useful feedback, which we’re currently using to make improvements to the Framework before we go live.

We’re now assessing their submissions, and we’ll soon be ready to pass on some feedback of our own.

This flowchart demonstrates how the Framework process works.

Safeguarding Framework Themes

Many sports and activity organisations have contacted us, asking if they can complete the Framework themselves. The plan is that two organisations a month will take part. We’re creating a calendar to book organisations in across the next year.

A few organisations have asked us what to expect from the Framework, so they can think about what they’ll need to consider before they begin the process. To make this easier, here are the key safeguarding themes the Framework covers:

  • Safeguarding governance
  • Implementation of safeguarding responsibility
  • Training
  • Recruitment
  • Codes of conduct
  • Case management

Can’t Wait to Complete the Safeguarding Adults in Sport Framework?

We expect to go live on June 20, 2019.

After we’ve gone live, we’ll publish a dedicated Framework page to our website. It will contain all the guidance you need to successfully complete the Framework, including lists of documents you’ll need, and more information about our assessment process.
