How The Ann Craft Trust Supports Active Partnership and National Governing Body Board Champions

Board Champions NGB AP

The Ann Craft Trust and the CPSU have long-standing relationships with Active Partnerships (APs) and National Governing Bodies (NGBs).

We work closely with the Active Partnerships National Organisation (APNO) to provide safeguarding support. The Ann Craft Trust supports safeguarding adults, while The NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU)supports children and young people.

As well as the Sport England funded programme of work to support the sport and physical activity sector, the Ann Craft Trust works across a range of other sectors including social care, health, education, transport, housing, construction as well as the wider charity sector.

Working across sectors allows us to provide learning and experience that connects with the work of Active Partnerships and National Governing Bodies. In addition to the bespoke support that we offer to sport organisations, we facilitate Safeguarding Adults Week, host an annual conference, and provide a range of resources on our website.

What support is available from the Ann Craft Trust for AP and NGB Board Champions?

Our purpose is to support organisations to embed a culture of safeguarding via policy reviews, training, learning development and consultancy services, so there are many reasons you may wish to reach-out and ask for our professional view.

The Ann Craft Trust does not provide direct safeguarding support to individuals, and therefore we are limited in how we can support with the details of particular cases. However, as a Board Safeguarding Champion you may wish to reach out with queries, and we will be happy to help in any way we can..

We also provide many resources on our website, such as policy templates, safeguarding information, useful contacts and example role descriptions.

You can see an Example Role Description for a Board Safeguarding Champion here.

You may want to consider how this compares to your own role description.

  • How does this compare to what you are doing as a Board Champion?
  • Where do you feel you need support to fulfil this role successfully?

And finally, while it’s not necessarily specific to the Board Champion role, we do offer Board Training and Commissioned Training.

All APs and NGBs can get one board training session for free. For more information, reach out to our Sport Administrator: sarah.nolan@nottingham.ac.uk
