Sibs – Supporting the Brothers and Sisters of Adults and Children with Disabilities

Nicola chats to Linda Owen, the resident “agony aunt” from the Sibs charity.

Sibs supports siblings who have a brother or sister with a disability, SEND or long-term health condition.

They recently released a report – “Coming Second” – about life in lockdown for siblings of disabled children. You can read this report in full here.

In this podcast, Linda discusses the report, explaining the particular challenges siblings have experienced during lockdown. But she also makes it clear that life with a disabled brother or sister can be as wonderful as it’s challenging. We must give siblings all the support they need to make sure they know how great they are!

We also have a podcast with our safeguarding young people lead Sarah Goff, which further explores how disabled young people and their families have experienced lockdown. Listen to it here.
