I am very pleased to be joining the Ann Craft Trust team!
I feel instantly welcome, and I am very excited to support the important work the Trust does.
My background is in student support in higher education. I specialise in supporting students who have been identified as being disadvantaged in some way. I have previously worked as part of the Safeguarding, Quality and Inclusion team at the Open University. This team provides targeted one-to-one support for students identified in the institution’s Access and Participation Plan. I have also worked as a Safeguarding Officer for the University of Derby Union of Students.
I am a former Chair of the UK Advising and Tutoring association (UKAT), which supports personal tutors and academic advisors across the UK. Also, I am currently Co-chair of the Association for Peer Learning and Support. This organisation promotes best practice in student-led learning.
I am a qualified teacher and coach, and I co-authored a book on Effective Personal Tutoring in Higher Education.
I am passionate about safeguarding, training and research. Working in operations management means collaborating with colleagues across the team to ensure everything works as effectively as possible. I love organising events, so I am very excited for my first Safeguarding Adults Conference.
Finally, I love sport – cricket, running, and football in particular. So, I am excited to support safeguarding adults in sport!
