During Safeguarding Adults Week, we hosted an engaging HeadSAFE Football education session designed to raise awareness about player welfare and adult safeguarding in football.
HeadSAFE Football provides emotional and practical support, evidence-based knowledge, and up-to-date research for those affected by football-related brain diseases, particularly CTE.
In a free seminar for Safeguarding Adults Week, HeadSAFE Football’s Lou Crawford and Nick Gates explained how they work to protect players, promote awareness, and make football safer for all.
The session covered:
- What HeadSAFE Football is and why it matters
- Why heading footballs can pose health risks
- What the latest science tells us about head impacts
- Myths and facts around heading
- FA rules and guidance on heading in football
- How policies can protect adults and support safer participation
