Ending Restraint and Seclusion – Podcast

Working together and sharing lessons to end restraint and seclusion in educational settings.

The BASW’s Let’s Talk Social Work podcast focuses on the issues that matter most to social workers, and the people they support.

ACT’s Sarah Goff appeared on the podcast in June 2021.

Also appearing:

  • Andy McClenaghan – BASW (Host)
  • Chris Lytle MLA – Chair of the Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Education
  • Nick Hobbs – Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland.

The four discussed restraint and seclusion of children and young people with additional needs in educational settings. They explored plans to introduce new guidance in Northern Ireland. The aim is to prevent the use of restrictive practices. Can experiences from elsewhere in the UK inform these plans?
