Building the Right Support for People with a Learning Disability and Autistic People – Action Plan

Building the Right Support for People with a Learning Disability and Autistic People Action Plan

This HM Government Action Plan highlights the importance of collaboration, whole system approaches and listening to personal experiences.

It also focuses on challenging restrictive practice, while arguing that we must all commit to change if we want to see it happen.

People with a learning disability and autistic people should live in their own home. They should also have the right support in place to live an ordinary life. This includes access to education, employment, and other opportunities which help people to fulfil their aspirations.

Building the Right Support seeks to make this a reality through strengthening community support. This will reduce the overall reliance on specialist inpatient care in mental health hospitals.

This action plan brings together, in one place, the commitments different organisations have made to realise this aim.
