We are here to provide bespoke advice, support and resources to help develop and embed safeguarding adult practice within the Sports and Physical Activity Sector.

We provide tailored support to:
- Identified National Governing Bodies of Sports funded by Sport England, Sport Wales and UK Sport
- Identified National Partners and Sport Partnerships in Wales

- The commercial, independent and community sport and activity sector
Working in Partnership
We work in partnership with other national organisations, athletes, system partners, the statutory sector and associates to provide leading information and support to help you develop and embed safeguarding adults work within your sport.

1-1 Support, Advice and Guidance
We provide personalised support, advice and guidance on all matters related to safeguarding adults in sport and physical activity.
Core Training
- Advanced Lead Safeguarding Officer Training : delivered via online classroom
- Essential Club Welfare Officer Training: delivered via online classroom
- Introductory Safeguarding Adults: E-learning training
- Board Trustee/Director training: Tailored for board members.
Bespoke Training
We offer a range of convenient and accessible online training opportunities. We can also arrange for in-person training workshops at your club or organisation:
- Staff training
- Commissioned training for Boards
- Commissioned training on bespoke topics: Including Creating a Safer Culture; Fundamentals of safeguarding adults, Grooming and Exploitation, Capacity and Consent, Professional Boundaries
- High Performance Athlete training: Specialised training for athletes on high-performance programmes.
- High Performance Staff Training: Tailored for coaches and support staff working in the high-performance environment.
- Continuous Professional Development Workshops for Lead Safeguarding Officers (delivered online).

Meet The Safeguarding Adults in Sport Team
Emma Gibson – Head of Safeguarding Adults in Sport
Emma leads and oversees the work of the Safeguarding Adults in Sport Team.
Joanne Pell – Safeguarding Adults in Sport Manager
Joanne’s role is funded by Sport England. She applies her knowledge of safeguarding to support National Governing Bodies across England.
Catherine Sykes – Safeguarding Adults Manager for the Sport and Activity Sector
Cath’s role is funded by Sport England. She applies her knowledge of safeguarding to support those working in the wider sport and activity sector.
Kimberley Walsh, Safeguarding Adults in Sport Manager
Kimberley’s role is funded by UK Sport. She applies her knowledge and experience of safeguarding and sport within the high performance sector; working mainly with the organisations who receive UK Sport funding.
Jodi Evans, Safeguarding Adults in Sport Manager for Wales
Jodi’s role is funded by Sport Wales. She applies her knowledge of safeguarding to support those working in Wales.
Sarah Nolan, Safeguarding Adults in Sport Administrator
Sarah’s role is funded by Sport England. She provides admin support to the Safeguarding Adults in Sport team.
