What is an ‘Adult at Risk’?
In this free online seminar, we will explore the legal meaning of an ‘adult at risk’, and explore how this differs to ‘an individual in a risky situation’. This discussion will encourage us to think more broadly about safeguarding all adults and the important role it plays in creating safer sport and physical activity settings.
We will delve into the practicalities of adult safeguarding from a volunteer perspective, exploring what creates fear of getting it wrong, and the barriers to taking action. We will think together about what terminology might be useful in your own setting, challenging ourselves to consider how labels impact practice.
Alongside this, we will discuss the role of professional boundaries in safeguarding practice and provide practical guidance on how to establish and maintain them.
This webinar is open to any volunteer in a sport and physical activity setting.
