In our latest Safeguarding in Challenging Times Seminar series, our Safeguarding in Sport specialists Nicola Dean and Joanne Pell will be discussing the results from our recent sport surveys.
The surveys aimed to discover how sport and activity organisations are coping with Covid-19.
The whole session should take around 40 minutes. The seminar is free to join. Just register for your place below, and we’ll be in touch with instructions on how to join via Microsoft Teams.
Listen and Act: How are sport and activity participants and organisations responding to the pandemic?
Wednesday 22 July
2.00 pm – 3.00 pm
What will we discuss?
We will be presenting the findings from two surveys we recently ran in collaboration with Sport England, UK Sport and Sport Wales. One was for sports and activity organisations, the other was for sports and activity participants. We surveyed 82 sport and activity organisations and 504 participants.
We wanted to find out how sport and activity organisations are coping the pandemic. Have they changed their priorities? Have they amended their safeguarding policies, for example? What are sports and activity organisations doing well? And what sort of needs are they currently failing to meet?
In this seminar we will be presenting the findings and offering valuable insights into just how lockdown’s affected sport and activity in the UK.
We will offer practical advice for sport and activity organisations to support them to respond to their participants’ needs.
What Other Safeguarding Issues Can We Talk About?
Changes in legislation and the current lockdown will pose a challenge for any safeguarding champion. Every Wednesday we will host a dedicated safeguarding hour on Twitter. This is an opportunity to ask questions and get the support from the wider safeguarding community online.
