Robin Van den Hende

Policy & Campaigns Officer

Biography

As Policy and Campaigns Officer for Respond, Voice UK and the Ann Craft Trust, Robin campaigns to change public policy so that the rights of people with learning disabilities are respected and that people with learning disabilities have equal access to justice. He also works to increase awareness of learning disability issues amongst the public, politicians and the media.

Robin spent nearly five years working for the whistleblowing charity Public Concern at Work, first as a caseworker on their helpline for whistleblowers and then as their Policy Officer. These roles involved assisting workers who had witnessed abuse in care raise their concerns as well as ensuring that public policy and corporate governance arrangements meant that whistleblowers have a safe alternative to silence.

In addition, Robin has acted as an independent consultant on whistleblowing to Paul van Buitenen MEP and worked for the New Zealand Human Rights Commission. As part of his degree in Politics and Parliamentary Studies, Robin worked for Malcolm Wicks MP and US Congresswoman Constance A. Morella.
